Things You Shouldn’t Do When Winning Sweepstakes

It is very important to be professional when it comes to winning sweepstakes.  You want to leave a good impression with whatever sponsor you are working with.  Remember these sponsors are using their own money to put together great prizes to give you.   Here are some tips to keep in mind if you do get luck and win.

Talk To The Hand - Winning Sweepstakes

Don’t Ignore The Sponsor After Winning Sweepstakes

After winning sweepstakes be sure to stay in touch with the sponsor if they ask.  There will be times where they might ask you to answer a few questions or take a full survey to help them get an idea of what their followers like.  Sponsors hold sweepstakes to gain publicity for their company.  A big part of the publicity is showing how excited the participants are about winning sweepstakes, so do your best to express your excitement and answer any questions they have for you.

Don’t Bad Mouth Your Prize

There will be occasions where you win a prize you might not necessarily like.  It’s okay, still try and be respectful to the sponsor and at least act like your happy with your prize.  If the sponsor sees that the participant is unhappy, it may influence them to stop holding sweepstakes altogether.  Remember, your prize might have been a treasure to somebody else, just because you aren’t fond of it doesn’t mean you need to express it.  Keep calm and carry on!

Don’t Get Angry If Something Goes Wrong

Sponsors that hold a lot of sweepstakes have a lot of data to process so there will be that rare occasion where something may go wrong.  For example, you may get sent the wrong prize or it may take a while for you to receive your prize.  Don’t worry, do your best to keep your cool and work with the sponsor.  Remember, the sponsors are people too!

Do your best to take this information in.  Again, treating the sponsors with respect is very important.  Remember that they are going through a lot to get these prizes out there for the participants, its only right to act professional!  Good luck in all of your future sweepstakes.

Powerball Jackpot Reaches $253 Million

Tonight’s Powerball jackpot is up to $253 Million!!  I’m pretty excited.  I ran out and bought a bunch of tickets today.  I usually like to do the Quick Picks, as I’m too lazy to fill in all those little dots to pick my Powerball numbers.  I usually play one or two tickets where I have picked the numbers.  I usually use some lucky numbers from my life, such as my kids birthdays, my anniversary and a couple of other “lucky” numbers.

If you are in one of the Powerball states, you should run out and get yourself some tickets.  You have to be in it, to win it!

Mega Mansions You Can Buy With Lottery Winnings

One of the first things lottery winners plan to do is purchase a new home.  Although these homes are some of the most expensive in the world, it’s certainly nice to dream.  There is a lot to take into account when it comes to home shopping.  If you hit it really big, you can definitely use some of these mega mansions to get some ideas.  But be careful, don’t overspend your winnings!  Here are a few of the most spectacular mega mansion we have seen:

Huge Sweepstakes Winners

The life of a full time sweeper can be tiring.  Some people spend anywhere from 10-25 hours a week simply entering sweepstakes. After a long streak of losing the question begins to come up, is all this time spent really worth it?  Well, maybe these two sweepstakes addict stories will convince you to keep on going.  For these two winners, hitting it big is a complete understatement.

Huge Sweepstakes - Winner

As seen on ABC News, Patti Osterheld is one of these huge winners.  Patti says she has won ”A trip to London, a trip to Zurich, a trip to Austria, a trip to Italy, a washer and dryer, TVs in every size and shape, including my latest, a 60-inch TV, a sound system to go with the television, a freezer, a year’s supply of gas, a year’s supply of milk, a year’s supply of Starbucks coffee,”  and those are only the big ones.  As you can see, with patience and persistence all the time put in can certainly be worth it.  She claims she wins about 4 or 5 vacations a year!  But thats not all..

Kevin Rader, a California resident focuses on car sweepstakes. Rader says “I recently won my 14th car, which was Volkswagen Beetle, and it came with gasoline for a year.”  How about that for a winner?  I’d have to say that if you can potentially win big like these guys, the time is definitely worth it.

Their approach?  Both sweepers seem to focus on just the larger sweepstakes.  Perhaps you should stop wasting your time signing up for the smaller sweeps and think big!  Good luck!

Mega Yachts You Can Buy With Sweepstakes Or Lottery Winnings

Ok, so we all dream big, right?  Why else would we enter so many sweepstakes and play the lotto and lottery on a regular basis.  A “sane” person might look at us and think we are crazy for spending so much time and money on things with such small odds of winning.  We are the “sweepers”, hear us roar!    If you are like me, you have probably spent some time dreaming about what you would do if you hit it big and won a mega sweepstakes jackpot, or lottery prize.  One thing I might buy is a cool super, mega, ginormous yacht!  In anticipation of my big sweepstakes or lotto win, I spent some time researching the biggest and best yachts available.  So I thought I would share some of my findings in case you win:

$4.8 Billion Solid Gold Yacht

history supreme yacht

Yes, you read that right.  $4.8 billion for a solid gold yacht.  The boat, named the History Supreme, is the work of Stuart Hughes, a British purveyor of luxury gadgets. It took three years to complete and is covered in 100,000 kilograms of precious metals, according to The Daily Mail. The master bedroom is particularly lavish; it’s adorned in platinum and has wall art made of meteoric stone and the bones of a Tyrannosaurus Rex.

Maltese Falcon – $120 million

Owner: Elena Ambrosiadou, co-founder of the London-based hedge fund IKOS Asset ManagementLength: 289 ft

Coolest Feature: This is the largest sailing yacht in the world, making it wholly different from the other motor yachts on this list. It lacks the square footage of some of its counterparts, but it still houses five state rooms, a saloon, and a submarine.

Ecstasea – $200 Million

Owner: Unknown buyer, formerly Roman AbramovichLength: 282 feet

Coolest Feature: This is the largest yacht ever built by Feadship — a Dutch cooperative between two shipyards and one maritime engineering company. To no surprise, it was commissioned by Abramovich in 2004.

Dubai – $350 Million

Dubai - $350M

Owner: Shiek Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, ruler of Dubai and Prime Minister of the UAELength: 525 ft

Coolest Feature: Take your pick: a landing pad for a Blackhawk helicopter, a garage for the a submarine, and a glass spiral staircase connecting the VIP suites all helped establish the Dubai the gold standard of super yachts when it was completed in 2006.

Eclipse – around $800 million

Eclipse - around $800 million

Owner: Roman AbramovichLength: 533 ft

Coolest Feature: You mean besides the anti-missile defense system? How about an anti-paparazzi laser shield that can scan for nearby cameras, and then fire a beam of light at the photographer’s lens to destroy the photos. It may not be legal, but it’s still pretty cool. The yacht reportedly cost $800 million to build and Abramovich paid $485 million, a relative steal.

Publishers Clearing House Win $5,000 A Week Forever!

So, unless you’ve been out of electricity and cut off from all media, you’ve probably heard about the Publishers Clearing House win $5,000 a week forever sweepstakes.  It’s pretty amazing.  If you win, you will win $5,000 a week for life, which is $260,000 a year, before taxes of course.  Still not too shabby.  Even better, when you die (and we will all die some day!), you can name someone else to get $5,000 a week for their life.  Unfortunately, it stops there and they can’t pass it on to someone else. While it’s not millions of dollars a year, it’s still a nice chunk of change.  You could definitely retire and live off that for the year, in most parts of the country at least, even after the tax man gets his share.

So can you really win?  Some people have been skeptical about Publishers Clearing House over the years.  But, people really do win, as they say.  What are your odds?  Let’s take a look at the Win $5,000 A Week Forever rules:  1 in 1,215,500,000!!!  Wow, that sounds pretty tough.  But, hey, it’s free, so why not enter.

Of course, PCH has tons of other ways to win too.  If you don’t already, I highly recommend visiting their site regularly and even signing up to get their emails.  They may be a little annoying (they sometimes send 2-3 per day), but they are actually kind of fun.  Also, check out my blog on past winners reactions from PCH, they are pretty funny.
